The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City has spent the last eight years building partnerships to power hundreds of programs. Together we have provided meaningful career development for young adults and built new play spaces for children. We have also expanded mental health support citywide and put essential supplies in the hands of medical workers during the pandemic. While no two programs were exactly alike, the one thing they all have in common is the lasting impact on the New Yorkers they’ve served. They prove that public-private partnerships can play an important role in building a stronger and more equitable city for all.

Legacy Out Loud is a special video series featuring stories from municipal employees, community partners, and New Yorkers served by Mayor’s Fund programs.

Their Stories

One in five New Yorkers faces a mental health challenge. This staggering fact motivated Mayor Bill de Blasio, First Lady Chirlane McCray, and the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City to launch a series of new programs aimed at increasing access to mental health support across the city.

Young New Yorkers have been a major focus of the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City since the beginning of the de Blasio Administration. The impact of these youth programs will be a lasting testament to the dedication and commitment of many donors and community partners.

In the last eight years, the Mayor’s Fund supported programs like NYC: ATWORK, which connects New Yorkers with disabilities to career opportunities, and Love Your Block, which provides grants for community-led groups to transform blocks in their neighborhoods.
